Was a very nice challenge to create but was very fun to make! ;)
As always: ships were made in SketchUp and rendered in Kerkythea, rest was done in PS!

Hope you like it! :)

Looks very cool, though there are some points which look off to me on closer inspection.

If you want I can give feedback on what I can see.
For example the first thing I noticed was the ships have 4 heavy turrets on the front, but the two closest to the center can't rotate to face to other side.

Thank you very much and thanks for the feedback! :)
However your concern with the turrets is unnecessary. The turrets are constructed in a way that they can all fire at least at broadside. The design is based upon the Japanese Tone-Class, look up the schematic here: midway1942.org/img/ships/ijn_c…
As you can see it's not meant to fire all four but only two turrets to the front. Seemed kinda odd to me too at first, but I got used to the idea ;)

Ah okay. At first glance it seemed like they couldn't even rotate to the other side. Guess that was because of the perspective.

Other things I noticed/was wondering about:
- The exploding ship looked like a mid air explosion without a ship until I looked at the full sized picture (via the link). In the current / smaller view the ship is barely visible.
- The scene looks quite cluttered with only the ship on the right taking a prominent place and a lot detail all over the scene (which becomes apparent when I feel my eyes moving all over and only sticking shortly on the big ship on the right, which controversely has less going on than most other ships). I'm not sure how this could best be changed, but one thing which might help is to perhaps view the scene from the back of another ship. It could hide a part of the scene without losing the feeling of the scale of the battle and give a place to show a close-up of the armaments. The large amount of flak probably also contributes to the cluttered impression.
- It feels odd that several ships are firing a lot (and others not at all), but nothing they are shooting at is in sight anywhere, nor are any attackers visible. I read that the idea was to display certain situations, but I think those could've been achieved perhaps even better with maybe one large hit on a ship at medium distance and a smaller hit on the most prominent ship.
- It also seems like neither side is focusing firing on any targets (not a big issue, but without anything in sight it seems more noticeable). Especially the top right ship appears to fire as if swarmed by smaller attackers (wide spread firing), but nothing is in sight.
- The top right ship breaks the impression that the fleet is positioned in a relatively thin line, making me wonder if they wouldn't have issues with their lines of fire.

Hopefully this is of some use :)

Very late, I know!^^
Thanks for suggestions, I'll keep them in mind, though many problems you mention are due to composition requests. Will be more careful next time though :)

Crikey, ....................Ships by SketchUp !! you clever thing, my version seems to have a mind of it's own
is there a trick? as threatening it with a crow bar hasn't worked.

Got to admire this, really good work

Just a thought take, this concept a step backwards how about viewing
the scuttling of the Imperial German Fleet In Scappa Flow from the seabed.
with your talent  the result should be interesting.

A trick? Hm, be stubborn and keep on trying, you'll end up ruling it eventually^^
Glad you like my work! It's indeed an interesting idea you have, but I currently don't have time to create new vessels, so you guys'll just have to stick with the two I created as of yet ;)

But I never watched RoboTech, only Macross on which RoboTech is based on :)
